USS Medea NCC-74796

Welcome to the USS Medea!

The USS Medea is a scientific exploration vessel, setup for finding the strange and unusual in the Delta Quadrant. The crew, hand-picked for their expertise in their given fields, have the same curiosity as their commanding officer. The Medea is part of 22nd Fleet and is assigned to the Delta Quadrant. The Medea is set to go into the areas that are unexplored, find the planets that have yet to be scanned, research the things that make the Delta Quadrant tick. Diplomacy is, of course, part of the equation when necessary.

Our crew count is still holding at 10 now.

We gained Anth, who is playing our new (and highly needed) counselor: Lieutenant Tymon Wrex. Welcome aboard!

We also gained Sprite, who is playing our science officer: Lieutenant JG Lilith Surana. Welcome aboard!

And! Welcome back to Patrick J, who played Cadet Isamu Takato!

Posting requirements went back into play on June 1st!

Mission Recap

Mission 3: Negotiations, is DONE! Captain Christine Applegate was turned back into an adult, with all the memories of being a toddler in-tact. Apologies to certain crew members were completed by the captain as she felt them necessary.

Mission 4: Strange Happenings is now in full swing. Random issues have started to pop up all over the ship: replicators, sonic showers causing burns or burst eardrums, random music playing on the bridge which included cats meowing, diagnostics not running properly. There is word the ‘malfunctions’ might be jumping from system to system, as the diagnostics that do run sometimes show something in a system, sometimes don’t. But, the actual cause is still unknown.

Player of the Quarter

Baktosh & Deka (Taral & Starduster): Due to their going above and beyond on the previous mission. Both in helping write the negotiation posts and playing alien cultures that they designed themselves with nothing more than the name of each species. And, for their involvement in the Baby Tine parts.

Ideas

Please let us know if you have any ideas or things you'd like to see come of the sim. We are brand new and have the Delta Quadrant to explore!

» "Crew Gossip"

Posted on Mon Jun 8th, 2020 @ 10:41pm by Captain Christine Applegate in Sim Announcement

Arriving by crew request: Crew Gossip!

This is an un-linked NPC that anyone can use. Those familiar with "Ticker Tape" on other sims, it is the same thing. I won't be having them go out on the Discord, but I will manually put the posts up so everyone can see. They won't go to emails.

If you write one, write it as the Yeoman Crew Gossip and then save it. After that, let myself or Commander Ryan know and we will post it and get it up.

These are meant to be anonymous, though you can tell the crew if you wrote it if you want. You can even write them about your own character.

Okay guys, couple things happened today.

Those in the Discord might realize that we lost Stuart/Amelix. I won't go into the what happened, but we are now down a chief science officer. That will be sorted out later.

However, thank you Stuart for showing us Amelix while she was on board.

Mission 3 is done and closed, with the last posts going up shortly before I closed it.

The timeline mod is updated, so please use the link in the mission notes and in the rules section to pick the day of the year. I'll update the group post to put the right one in there later.

There is another tiny announcement coming that needed to be separate because it doesn't have to do with all this stuff, I'll post that right after this one.

Posted on Tue May 26th, 2020 @ 11:49pm by Captain Christine Applegate in Sim Announcement

Alrighty guys! I know the current mission has taken a while. But with Covid-19 and such, we let the posting requirements slide.

HOWEVER...

Starting June 1st, posting requirements are returning to normal. This means that tags need to be answered within 72 hours, and all players would need to have at least one post (joint or personal) posted every 14 days.

The only time that the post every 14 days isn't followed is if there is a group post going.

The tag answering rule applies to the group posts as well.

If you are part of a post and someone has answered after you, even if the tag doesn't specify your name please READ THE POST to make sure you aren't missing something that someone just didn't put a name on. coughAmelixcough.

Any questions, please talk to me or Commander Ryan.

Character Updates

We are saying goodbye to our Advisor: Deka Maran. Real life has taken over, and he stuck around for the remainder of our mission. He's listed as an inactive character, but has decided to let his account still remain so he can get emails. And he'll hand around in the Discord as well!

Additional Updates

Once this mission is completed, but before the new one starts, we will be changing the date format of the posts. Those on Astraea are familiar with this.

We are changing to "day of the year" format. The year will still be 2389.

The dates can be found here. We're using 2020 where those familiar with this on Astraea are using 2018 (per the link I had bookmarked!).

So, based on this, the current big post is day 208 (July 26th).

Any questions, please ask! I'll pin that link to the Discord server once the mission changes and it'll get added to the rules area as well.

I believe that is all the updates for now. Anything else comes up, it will be posted! Thank you all for the amazing mission and my dear XO for the idea of turning me into a toddler!

Currently, the posting requirements are on hold until further notice. It seems the crew, OOC, is doing well.

Mission Recap

Mission 2: Orbiting the Blue, ended at the beginning of February, with the crew managing to get back to the ship and having a few things now to investigate.

Mission 3: Negotiations, is in full swing. Not only is the crew dealing with trade negotiations between two different species, they are also dealing with a transporter accident which has left Captain Christine Applegate as a toddler who seems to have no memories of anything from being an adult.

Although the cause has been found, no attempts to correct the toddler Tine have been attempted yet.

Player of the Quarter

This quarter, I’m giving the player of the quarter to the entire crew! Through all this uncertainty, you have all stuck around and done your best to keep up with posting and chatting!

Ideas

Please let us know if you have any ideas or things you'd like to see come of the sim. We are brand new and have the Delta Quadrant to explore!

Lilith regarded the sonic shower in her quarters thoughtfully. She still lacked enough data, running ship-wide diagnostics every two hours, to resolve a pattern or make any conclusions. And yet it did seem the random malfunctions had disproportionately impacted personal devices like sonic showers and replicators.

She paced her quarters.…
