Niobe still was unsure how to take the fact that their station had been above ground, kind of situated on a hill in a nice area, and she'd been enjoying going out and watching sunsets and such.
But now, to hear they were underwater? She was confused. However, she'd deal with that later. For now, she was taking those who wanted to see the medical facilities to them.
"Its nothing special honestly, general medical facilities. They never stopped working when some of the other systems did."
"Still, I must inspect them. And I need to go over your crew files. Make sure everything and everyone is just how they had been before," Satu said with a smile.
"Completely understandable, Doctor. We knew that whenever someone came to check on us, before we knew we were underwater, that everything would be checked." Niobe said as she reached the door and allowed it to open. "Go right ahead, doctor."
"Do your engineering specialists know why only the medical facilities continued to be operational?" Ian asked.
Niobe shook her head. "Considering we didn't know until you told us that we were in this situation, Commander? All of our other systems seemed to be working fine, just the external sensors."
“Curious,” Baktosh said as he brought up the rear of the party. External sensors failing as the station is moved, without anyone’s knowledge, into the deep ocean. So specific a system to be taken offline might imply an explanation. “Were any of the five members of the crew admitted into the medical bay when the sensors went offline?” He knew the records Satu would check would have all the details, but a quick yes-no answer might direct him to someone to speak with.
"Not that I can remember. I think just cuts and scrapes, but nothing else. Far as my understanding, everything is working properly in here unless someone isn't telling us something."
"Hmm... curious," Satu said softly. She looked to Baktosh and gave him a smile, then back to Niobe. "Tell me again, when did your external systems start malfunctioning?"
"My understanding is about two weeks. We just continued to work on our internal experiments."
"May I ask what your experiments are?" Satu was now concerned. It didn't seem quite normal that these people would be completely fine with being unable to go outside or use their external sensors for two weeks. Something very strange was going on here.
"I also find myself interested in these experiments," Ian pointed out, "Because that may explain the root cause to the situation. Then again it could be something entirely different..." His voice trailed away as he finished his last thought out loud.
Baktosh simply listened and watched. Nobody was being too cagey or weird yet, but if anyone knew anything about the current crisis, they would show it soon enough.
"Our experiments were on the plants and animals outside," Niobe said as she brought up a few files onto the screen. "But nothing that amazing."
“Any loss of containment, even a minor one?” Baktosh wondered. “A potentially escaped specimen, no matter the size or type?”
Niobe shook her head, "Not that I am aware of. Only thing that came up that night before was a storm outside, but all containments were double-checked."
Ian rubbed the bottom of his chin, "Were any engineering experiments taking place? Or, maybe some sort of maintenance and repair work?"
"I know we're asking a lot of questions, but have you experienced a storm like the one that night?" Satu asked tilting her head. She wasn't a scientist, but even she could appreciate weather's affects on not only nature but on the constructs of "man".
“It is very possible that there is nothing to find here,” Baktosh suggested. “Perhaps the Captain is having better luck.”
"Not that I remember coming up in the reports." Niobe moved over to a smaller console and brought up all the reports from when the systems went down. "Nothing, and storms are storms here. Think...thunderstorms on Earth, very similar, though the lightning is a big more blue in color."
That last detail caught the security chief’s attention. He was by no means a scientist, but he had been to a great many planets both in the Federation and in the Patriarchy. Lightning was never consistently different. It was white, with maybe some tinge of colour from the reflected sky.
He had seen phenomena that resembled lightning but was different colours. It was almost always artificial and was often a weapon.
“I think we should regroup with the others,” he suggested. He looked directly to Commander Ryan. “Sir, I think it’s increasingly likely the facility was attacked.”
"I'm in agreement with your assessment Lieutenant," Ian replied.
"I would like to stay in medical. I need to go through the medical profiles and I would like to do a thorough round of physicals for the scientists here. Need to make sure none of them have been compromised in any way," Satu said, looking to the others.
Isamu was quieter than usual and looked at Ryan that seemed to have the same idea and then looked at Niobe "Lightning doesn't particular go blue or there is tempering with the environmental surrounding in the sky. Are these lightings more ...often?" Looking back at Ryan "My apology for talking out of turn sir"

"Commander Ryan here go ahead Captain," Ian responded to the Captain.
+Please, all of you, report to the command area. We may have found something that could explain a few things.+
"Understood Captain," Ian responded and closed the commlink, "Let's go see what the Captain needs then." He said and waved the away team along.
