Mission:
Mission 6: Shore Leave
Location: USS Medea - Ready Room
Timeline: 2389 230 at 0800
Christine knew the call would be coming, so she let Ian take ship command while she waited. She'd sent off her report about the last mission to Command and was finishing up a few things awaiting their call.
Soon, her monitor lit up with an incoming message from Starfleet Command. Putting the other PADDs aside, and picking up her coffee cup, she answered. "Admiral Zeva, good to see you again."
The concerned face of the half-Vulcan admiral was there and gave a polite nod. Luckily for the Captain, Zeva wasn't one of the Vulcans who kept their emotions hidden away. In this matter, that was a good thing.
"Captain Applegate, pleasure as always." She held up a PADD. "Looks like your mission turned into an interesting discovery. We're sure that these aliens, whoever they are, were able to move the research station?"
Taking a sip of her coffee, the captain nodded. "You saw the sensor video I take it? We checked and double-checked our scans of the alien ship against everything we got from the station. The signatures match. If they have that type of power..."
Zeva sighed, "Then we have someone out there who doesn't seem to want us around, and can transport things without leaving much trace unless we know what to look for. We've sent the information out to every ship within range as well as long distance ones."
"I thought we were the furthest out though, Admiral. At least, originally."
"You were," Zeva stated, "But when we sent you on the mission to find the station, other ships received missions as well. Based on preliminary results from long range scans, these ships are everywhere. However..."
Christine sat back a bit, "Are they keeping to their agreement of non-hostility for now? They let us leave without issue."
Zeva nodded to the question, "They are for the time being. Likely, since you are the one they've worked with, they might want to only work with you in the future. We're also discussing this not only with the admirality here, but back on Earth. Obviously, that takes time with the communications delay. We had hoped we wouldn't run into to much in this part of the quadrant."
"They've obviously been to Earth with the cavern we found. My guess is that it is blown to bits with how they were attacking us."
"We sent out a ship to investigate. They'll let us know and also, hopefully be able to retrieve any other items, if we are allowed." Zeva sat back this time. "But, right now, we're going to give you and your crew a break. The previously approved shore leave is re-approved. Not sure how long we can allow your crew to be on leave, but we're going to let all of the previous requests be granted, including family visitation."
Christine smiled, "Thank you, Admiral. The crew will be excited to hear this. We'll bring back the items we have from that cavern as well, even though the disco ball is mostly picked apart."
"Thank you, Captain. Enjoy the trip back to the station and we'll see you soon."
